On the team's overall play today:
I thought we did a nice job of having a perimeter game at the same time as establishing our inside game. In the first half, I thought we were a little rattled. I think we made one more pass in our offense, so they're starting to trust each other in the offensive end. We're not trying to force the shot, we can kick it back out and knock it down, so we're getting there.
On sophomore center Allyssa DeHaan's 3-pointer:
A lot of people think that was kind of a lucky thing, but we practice that in our offense, that trail screen. We think it opens things up. Obviously Allyssa practiced and she's a great shooter. She's got a really nice stroke and I think that just adds to her ability to be tough to guard.
On freshman forward Cetera Washington's play:
She really came to play today. I think as a freshman, sometimes you're not sure where you fit. But you can see Cetera every time she sets foot on the floor, she gathers a lot of confidence in herself. She gives us some length on the perimeter defensively. The biggest thing she did for us tonight was defensive rebound. I thought Cetera did a really nice job of taking ownership of that.
On the play of freshman forward Kalisha Keane:
Kal has a tremendous presence on the floor as a freshman. I think when we play Kal at the four, she figures she can be a knock-down shooter and dribble-drive attack guy. When we play her at the three, she can really power post. She's going to get some opportunities and she's going to be really hard to guard.
On the team's 25 assists:
On the remaining NIT schedule and her outlook for the team:
I think the fact that they know what they're looking for helps and now they're looking for it and making a better decision on the read depending on how the defense is set up. I thought we did a nice job of skipping the ball tonight.
I still think there are a lot of things we need to improve on. We turn it over a little too much, I don't think we're as crisp as we need to be on offense with our cuts. But we're getting there. I'm pretty pleased with where we're at. To be 2-0, that's a good thing. Now, as we move deeper into the NIT, it's going to be a different game. Our level of intensity and focus has to be there. I'm pleased with where we're at, but we still have some improving to do.
