EAST LANSING, Mich. (AP) - Rene Haynes scored 20 points and Allyssa DeHaan blocked nine shots to set game and season records in No. 21 Michigan State's 74-49 victory over Indiana on Thursday night in the Big Ten opener for both teams.

Haynes was 7-for-13 from the field and 5-for-5 from the line for the Spartans (10-2). The guard also had eight rebounds, four assists and three steals.

DeHaan broke her own single-game mark of eight blocks and erased WNBA veteran Kristen Rasmussen's season record of 57 by three. The 6-foot-9 freshman also had 10 points, all in the second half, and 10 rebounds.

Victoria Lucas-Perry and reserve Alisa Wulff also had 10 points apiece for Michigan State, which grabbed a 12-1 lead with aggressive defense and held the Hoosiers (11-3) to 25-percent shooting from the field. That was more than enough to overcome 26 turnovers.

Nikki Smith and Kim Roberson each had 12 points for Indiana, which lost for the first time in five games. Whitney Thomas grabbed 13 rebounds. But her team couldn't take advantage of 17 steals and fell behind by 34 with 11:30 left.
