Sophomore Maxann Reese Scores Career-High 32 Points To Key Victory

Mt. Pleasant, MI -- Michigan State sophomore guard Maxann Reese scored a career-high 32 points to lift the Spartans to an 89-82 victory over Central Michigan at Rose Arena. The victory helped MSU snap a two-game losing streak and improve to 4-3 overall.

The Highland Park native scored 18 points in the first half and ended the game hitting 10-of-13 shots from the field, including 5-of-8 three-pointers.

The Spartans held a slim 42-35 lead at halftime, but senior forward Bella Engen keyed a run early in the second half to extend MSU's lead to 13 points at 61-48 at the 13:58 mark. Central Michigan eventually cut the Spartans lead to four points (75-59) with just 2:32 left in the game. Reese hit a triple as the shot clock expired to take the lead back to seven points for the Spartans. From there, the Spartans converted their free throws to secure the victory.

Engen ended the game with 26 points for the Spartans, who shot 51 percent from the field.
