Women's Basketball Falls to No. 5 Vanderbilt
Commodores Down Spartans, 63-51
NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Michigan State shot a season-low .333 from the field and committed 20 turnovers in a 63-51 loss to the fifth-ranked Vanderbilt Commodores.
Despite shooting just 33 percent from the field in the first half, the Spartans stayed close and went into the locker room trailing 30-25.
The opening of the second half was all Vanderbilt as the Commodores went on a 19-4 run to build a commanding 47-29 lead with 12:06 left in the contest.
Senior Jamie Wesley hit two free throws at the 3:04 mark to bring MSU within 10 points at 57-47. Vanderbilt responded with a three-pointer by Ashley Smith and a steal and layup by Na'Sheema Hillmon to regain control of the game.
Kristen Rasmussen paced the Spartans with 14 points and 11 rebounds. Sophomore Maxann Reese was the only other player in double figures with 10 points.
