EAST LANSING, Mich. - Michigan State women’s basketball has earned the sixth seed in the upcoming Big Ten Women’s Basketball Tournament, which will be held March 1-5 at the Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Indiana.
The sixth-seeded Spartans (19-10, 9-7 B1G) will take on the winner of the first-round game between No. 11-seeded Wisconsin and No. 14-seeded Rutgers. The Badgers and the Scarlet Knights will meet on Wednesday, March 1, 25 minutes after the conclusion of the game between No. 12-seeded Illinois and No. 13-seeded Nebraska at 1:30 p.m. ET.
Ohio State is the No. 1 seed in the tournament, while Maryland is the No. 2 seed. The Buckeyes and the Terrapins finished the regular season tied with 14-1 league records with OSU defeating Maryland head to head. Michigan earned the No. 3 seed, while for the second-straight season No. 4-seeded Indiana is the final team to earn the double bye.
MSU is the No. 6 seed in the B1G Tournament for the first time since 1995, and only the second time. In the 1995 tournament also held in Indianapolis, the Spartans defeated Michigan in the first round and Wisconsin in the second round before falling to Ohio State in the semifinals.
All 13 games of this year’s Big Ten Tournament will be televised live to a national audience, with BTN carrying all games from the first round through the semifinals from Wednesday to Saturday live on its linear network, as well as through its BTN2Go platform. Sunday’s Big Ten Tournament championship game will be televised live on ESPN2 and the WatchESPN platform.
