Jankoska Earns First-Team All-Big Ten Honors

EAST LANSING, Mich. - Michigan State women's basketball senior Tori Jankoska was named unanimous first-team All-Big Ten by both the coaches and the media Monday. This is the first time that Jankoska has been named to the first team.

Redshirt senior Branndais Agee, graduate student Taya Reimer and freshman Taryn McCutcheon were all named to the honorable mention team. Agee earned honorable mention honors by both the coaches and the media, while Reimer and McCutcheon were honored by the media.

Jankoska, a guard from Freeland, Michigan, earned her fourth-straight All-Big Ten honor after being named to the second-team the last two seasons and the honorable mention squad as a freshman. Jankoska is just the fifth Michigan State women's basketball player to earn All-Big Ten accolades all four years as a Spartan. The guard has had a breakout senior campaign, re-writing the Michigan State record books. She became the first MSU women's basketball player to reach the 2,000-point mark with 2,119 points. Jankoska is second in the Big Ten in scoring, averaging 22.5 points per game. She also ended the regular season fourth in assists (5.1 apg) and seventh in rebounds (8.2 rpg). Against Minnesota on Feb. 16, Jankoska became just the third MSU women's basketball player to earn a triple double with 24 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists.

Agee, a guard from Detroit, Michigan, was named All-Big Ten for the second-straight season after being named honorable mention by the media last season. Recovering from an off-season injury, Agee has been solid in conference play, averaging 11.1 points and 6.8 rebounds per game in B1G games.

McCutcheon, a guard from East Lansing, Michigan, has had a stellar freshman campaign. She ended the regular season tied for fourth in the Big Ten in assists with 5.2 apg. She is also tied for fifth in assist/turnover ratio (2.4).

Reimer, a graduate student from Fishers, Indiana, has made an instant impact on the Spartans, starting all 29 games. In league contests, Reimer is averaging 10.1 points and 5.7 rebounds per game. The forward is tied for 11th in the Big Ten in field goal percentage, shooting 49.8 percent.

Junior guard Lexi Gussert was Michigan State's Big Ten Sportsmanship honoree. Gussert has played in all 29 games this season for the Spartans.

In Suzy Merchant's 10 seasons, Michigan State has now earned 35 All-Big Ten selections. MSU has had at least two players earn All-Big Ten honors in each of those 10 seasons.

Ohio State's Kelsey Mitchell was named Big Ten Player of the Year by both the media and the coaches. Maryland's Destiny Slocum was named Freshman of the Year by both groups, while Michigan's Kim Barnes Arico earned Coach of the Year honors by both the media and the coaches.

Michigan State women's basketball has earned the sixth seed in the upcoming Big Ten Women's Basketball Tournament, which will be held March 1-5 at the Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Indiana. The Spartans will take on the winner of the game between No. 11-seeded Wisconsin and No. 14-seeded Rutgers on Thursday, March 2.
