EAST LANSING, Mich. - Michigan State women's basketball signee Tori Jankoska of Freeland High School added to her postseason accolades this season, being named Michigan's Gatorade Girls Basketball Player of the Year on Thursday. On Monday, she was named the state's Miss Basketball by the Basketball Coaches Association of Michigan (BCAM).

The 5-8 guard averaged 30.9 points, 7.0 rebounds, 3.8 assists and 4.8 steals this season, as Freeland finished this season 22-2, but lost in the Class B regional semifinal on Tuesday. Jankoska shattered Freeland's career scoring record, totaling 2,333 points in her career.

Jankoska has been a first-team all-state selection as a junior and sophomore, while being an honorable choice as a freshman. She was named Player of the Year as a junior by the Midland Daily News, and has been on the newspaper's Dream Team each of her three seasons. She is also a three-time first-team all-conference honoree.

Michigan State has signed three of the last four Michigan Gatorade Players of the Year, as Madison Williams was the 2010 honoree and Jasmine Hines took home the award in 2011.
