April 12, 2000

East Lansing, Mich. - Michigan State women's basketball players Kristen Rasmussen (East Lansing/Okemos HS) and Maxann Reese (Highland Park/Bishop Borgess HS) have been invited to the 2000 WNBA Pre-Draft Camp, April 13-15, in Chicago, Ill.

The camp, held at Moody Bible Institute, gives WNBA coaches and general managers the opportunity to evaluate the skills of prospective players prior to the draft on April 25. Approximately 110 college seniors, veterans with prior professional experience and international players will take part in the three-day camp. A total of 64 players will be drafted on April 25.

A First-Team All-Big Ten selection, Rasmussen averaged 14.8 points and a league-high 9.8 rebounds per game in 1999-00. The 6-4 forward also led the Big Ten with 16 double-doubles.

Reese, the only player in Spartan history to earn First-Team All-Big Ten honors twice, averaged a team-high 16.0 points per game as a senior. A 5-9 guard, Reese hit 218 three-point field goals during her career.

The WNBA will tip off its fourth season on Monday, May 29. Each of the 16 teams will play a 32-game regular season schedule. Training camps open on Wednesday, May 3 at the teams' respective training facilities, while preseason contests start on May 13.
