ROSEMONT, Ill. - The Michigan State women's basketball team was selected third in the Big Ten preseason poll by both the coaches and media, released on Thursday morning before conference media day. In addition, senior Kalisha Keane was named to the 5-player All-Big Ten Preseason Team by the league's coaches.

Ohio State and Iowa, respectively, topped both polls, while Purdue tied MSU for third in the media ranking. Ohio State's Jantel Lavender was tabbed as the Preseason Player of the Year by both. The media's team consisted of Lavender, Prahalis, Alexander, Jaeschke, Purdue's Brittany Rayburn and Wisconsin's Alyssa Karel.

MSU finished second in the Big Ten for the second-straight season in 2009-10, going 12-6. The Spartans, who went 23-10 overall, posted their seventh consecutive 20-win season and advanced to the NCAA Tournament second round.
