Arkansas State tops Tennessee Tech for Third-Place in MSU Chevrolet Classic

EAST LANSING, Mich. - Arkansas State posted a 71-61 victory over Tennessee Tech to take the third-place game at the Spartan Chevrolet Classic on Saturday night (Nov. 18) at the Breslin Center in East Lansing.
The Lady Indians jumped out to an early 15-3 lead just 13:14 into the first half. However, Tennessee Tech fought back, going on a 9-6 run to cut the Arkansas State lead to seven (21-14) with 4:48 to play. Arkansas State close out the first half on a 15-3 run to take a 36-17 lead into the locker room at halftime.
Tennessee Tech's Janet Holt scored 13 of Tech's 18 points to start the second half and help the Golden Eaglette pull within 15 (50-35) with 10:53 to go in the game. However, Arkansas State responded with a 12-6 run, thanks in part to seven points by Jolie McKeirnan, and increased their lead to 21 (62-41) with 5:37 to go.
Arkansas State (1-1 overall) was led by Jolie McKeirnan, who posted a double-double with 19 points and 10 rebounds. Natalie Goodall posted 17 points and Chiquita Tucker added 10 points and eight rebounds.
Janet Holt led Tennessee Tech (0-2 overall) with 28 points and 10 rebounds.
