ABOUT WESTERN MICHIGAN
The Broncos enter the weekend, 1-2 overall, but are coming off a 87-80 overtime win over Loyola-Chicago on Thursday night. Miame Giden leads Western Michigan is scoring at 18.0 points per game, while Taylor Manley (14.3) and Deairra Goss (10.0) also are averaging double-figures in the early season. Kemmy Dominique's 7.0 rebounds per game paces the Broncos.

AGAINST THE BRONCOS
Michigan State leads the all-time series against Western Michigan 10-8, but the two schools have not met since Nov. 25, 1995. The Spartans have won the last three meetings, and six of the last seven. They have twice met in Grand Rapids previously, splitting the two matchups.

SPARTANS IN GRAND RAPIDS
Michigan State has played six previous games in the city of Grand Rapids entering today's game, including a pair at Van Andel Arena. The Spartans are 3-3 all-time in the city and 1-1 at Van Andel. MSU last played in Grand Rapids on Dec. 2, 2001, beating Marquette, 65-63.

SWATTING HER WAY INTO THE NCAA RECORD BOOKS
Senior Allyssa DeHaan enters her senior season on pace to break the NCAA Division I blocked shots record. In last game against Notre Dame, she moved into sixth all-time with 414 blocks, she needs only 67 rejections to surpass the record held by Sandora Irvin of TCU (2001-05). DeHaan is also third on the NCAA list with a 3.90 blocks per game average.

 

 

DeHaan became the Big Ten's all-time blocked shots leader during MSU's Big Ten Tournament game against Wisconsin on March, 6, 2009. She surpassed Ohio State's Jessica Davenport (384) for the record. In addition, in last season's win over Stony Brook (Nov. 16, 2008), she became the fastest in conference history to reach the 300-block plateau, needing only 72 games.

HISTORIC COMPANY
Senior Allyssa DeHaan is one of only five Spartans to rank in the top-10 in both career points and rebounds. She is currently ninth all-time with 1,334 points and seventh with 744 rebounds.

APPROACHING 1,000
Redshirt senior Aisha Jefferson is approaching a historic milestone, needing only 45 points to become the 20th Spartan to reach 1,000 career points. Jefferson is currently 26th all-time with 955 points. In addition, she is also climbing the career rebounds list, sitting in 20th-place with 532.
