Get to Know Freshman Courtney Schiffauer

Courtney Schiffauer has been an integral part of the Spartans in her first collegiate season. Coming off the bench, she is one of five MSU players averaging over 20 minutes a game. Schiffauer is averaging 9.0 points, fifth on the team, and is also sixth on the team in rebounding (3.8) and assists (1.6). She leads the team and is second in the Big Ten, shooting 64.3% (18-of-28) from the field.
Schiffauer scored 21 points in her collegiate debut against Niagara, which were the most points in a MSU debut since 2002, and also grabbed a season-high eight rebounds.
Schiffauer was a highly-touted recruit coming out of high school. She was named the Ohio High School Basketball Coaches Association (OHSBCA) Division I Player of the Year her senior season and was a second-team all-state selection by the Associated Press. She averaged 21 points and 10 rebounds and led Boardman High School to the state semifinals and a 19-8 record in her final season. A three-time all-league and all-district selection, Schiffauer ended her high school career with 2,000 points. She also played in the same conference as classmate Porschè Poole.

If you could play one-on-one against anyone, dead or alive, who would it be? Steve Nash, because he is my favorite NBA player. And where? In my drive way.
What was the last book you read? "A Walk to Remember" by Nicholas Sparks.
What's been your favorite class at MSU so far? My TE 150 (Reflections on Learning) class.
If you could take a week-long trip to anywhere in the world, where would it be? Somewhere like the Bahamas or Cancun, because it's hot and I could get a sun tan.
Who is your role model? My sister.
If you could play another sport in college, what would it be? Softball.
What is one thing that you wish you could learn to do? Ride a horse.
At what age did you start playing basketball? Fourth grade.
What is your favorite place to eat in East Lansing? Qdoba. And what do you typically order? A chicken burrito.
What is the best thing about the Michigan State campus? How green it is.
