Varsity at Princeton Chase
Novice vs. Michigan
GOING BACK TO NASSAU HALL:
Saturday Michigan State women's crew ventured to Princeton, N.J., for the Princeton Chase, one of the nation's top fall regattas. Competing against the best in women's crew for the first time as a varsity, the Spartans entered two eight-person boats and two fours. In the 42-boat varsity eight race, Michigan State finished 26th (15:38.40) and 36th (16:13.68). In the varsity four race, which featured 46 boats, MSU placed 20th (17:28.68) and 45th (18:46.91). The top boats from Virginia and Princeton finished 1-2 in both races. It was the final race of the fall for MSU's varsity squad.
NOVICES DOMINATE MICHIGAN:
While the varsity competed in New Jersey, Michigan State's novice boats raced Michigan at Grand River Park Saturday. The Spartans dominated the racing, finishing with the top three head race times (a 3,500-meter race with staggered starts). The top Spartan boat also easily defeated the top Wolverine entry in three 1,000-meter races. MSU's novices follow the varsityis lead, traveling to Princeton, N.J., for the Belly of the Carnegie next weekend.
