Opened the season (March 30) in the five seat of the varsity eight, falling to both Michigan and Notre Dame by two lengths... Rowed in the three seat of the varsity eight in a four-boat race with Big Ten foes Michigan, Ohio State, and Indiana (April 13) when conditions forced a change from a double-dual format. Finished fourth in a time of 6:54.13 ... Lined up with some of the best crews in the country at the Clemson Invitational (April 20-21). In the five seat of the varsity eight, crossed the line in a time of 6:48.3 in the Saturday morning heat, a race Cornell won in a time of 6:35.0. In the second two sessions at Clemson, rowed in the six seat in the varsity eight, and helped the boat finish third in its second Saturday race, crossing the line in 6:29.9, behind Louisville (6:22.0) and Minnesota (6:26.3). In Sunday's race, crossed the finish line in a time of 6:58.1, behind Louisville (6:46.7), Clemson, Cornell, and Duke ... six seat in the varsity eight when the team traveled to Virginia to take on the host Cavaliers and Duke (April 27), falling to No. 4 UVA in a time of 6:46.4, and by just over seven seconds to Duke (6:55.2) ... Raced Big Ten foes Minnesota and Wisconsin in the final week of the regular season (May 5), and rowed to a third-place finish (6:42.6) as the six seat in the varsity eight ... In the six seat, helped the varsity eight to a fourth-place finish at the Big Ten Championships (May 19) in a time of 6:44.334, avenging a pair of losses to Minnesota in the regular season. Helped MSU finish fourth at the Championships as a team. 2012: Rowed in the second varsity eight at the NCAA Championships as part of the group that finished third in the third-level final in a time of 6:49.00... Took a fifth place finish at the Big Ten Championships with the second varsity eight in a time of 6:47.922... Defeated Louisville by 13.4 seconds and Iowa by 8.8 seconds (April 7)... Rowed with the second varsity eight at the UVA Invitational (April 14-15) where the Spartans edged No. 19 Minnesota by 1.8 seconds and defeated No. 18 Clemson by 6.3 seconds. |
