2014 Spring Academic All-Big Ten Selections Announced

MSU had 104 student-athletes recognized for having a 3.0 or better GPA.

Fall 2015 Rowed in the three seat of MSU’s entry at the prestigious Head of the Charles Regatta in Cambridge, Mass. and finished 10th in the women’s championship eights. Completed the 4,800-meter course in a time of 16:53.764, less than half a second behind ninth-place Iowa. Finished 14 spots ahead of its pre-HOCR seeding (24th).

2015 Big Ten Distinguished Scholar and Academic All-Big Ten Honoree … Clocked a weekend-best 6:01.206 in the final set of varsity eight races (bow seat) at the Oak Ridge Cardinal Invitational (3/14-15) vs. Kansas, Tennessee, and Alabama … Was within six seats of both UCF and Oklahoma in the first V8 races at Oak Ridge, in a time of 6:06.431 … In the two seat of the varsity eight, fell to both Louisville and Notre Dame in a double dual at Ohio State (3/28) … Dropped a pair of dual races to Big Ten foes Iowa (6:47.2-6:56.03) and Indiana (6:23.8-6:42.9) in the two seat of the varsity eight in a Big Ten double dual at Michigan (4/11) … In the two seat of the varsity eight, had a rough go at the Clemson Invitational (4/18-19), finishing sixth, seventh, and seventh on Lake Hartwell in a regatta featuring 10 teams from the CRCA Top 25 … In the five seat of the second varsity eight, finished behind eventual national champion Ohio State, Syracuse, and Michigan in a race in Columbus (4/25) … Came up short in a second varsity eight race with Big Ten rivals Minnesota and Wisconsin in Baraboo, Wisconsin (5/2), finishing third in the 2V five seat … Won the varsity eight Petite Final at the Big Ten Championships (5/17) in the three seat, finishing with five lengths of open water ahead of Rutgers (7:05.305-7:32.583) … Missed a spot in the Big Ten Grand final by under two-tenths of a second, behind third-place Iowa in the Big Ten semifinal heat (6:54.239-6:55.910) (5/16).

2014: Big Ten Distinguished Scholar ... Academic All-Big Ten... Member of the second varsity eight which defeated Rutgers by 30 seconds (3/28)... Had open water over Kansas at the Oak Ridge Cardinal Invitational (3/15).

2013: Academic All-Big Ten Selection ... Fell to Michigan in the season opener (March 30) at home by open water in the three seat of the novice eight, clocked in a time of 7:33.30, but closed the margin against Notre Dame in falling to the Irish in the afternoon session ... Rowed in the three seat of the novice eight in a four-boat race with Big Ten foes Michigan, Ohio State, and Indiana (April 13) when conditions forced a change from a double-dual format. Finished third in a time of 7:05.3, half a length ahead of fourth-place Indiana and a length behind second-place Ohio State ... Lined up with some of the best crews in the country at the Clemson Invitational (April 20-21). Rowed in the three seat for the first novice entry, which won both of its races. The boat finished with the sixth-fastest time of the day and won its morning race in a time of 7:04.06; its winning time in the afternoon session was 6:53.3 ... The Sunday racing for the novice eights at Clemson was wiped out due to weather conditions ... Raced Big Ten foes Minnesota and Wisconsin in the final week of the regular season (May 5), and rowed to a third-place finish (6:42.6) as the three seat in the novice eight. In one of the tightest races of the day, Wisconsin finished in 6:57.1, Minnesota in 6:58.8, and MSU just a length behind in 7:02.9 ... Helped the novice eight finish one spot better than its seeding at the Big Ten Championships (May 19). In the three seat, finished fourth in a time of 7:14.462. The Spartans finished fourth in the team standings with 85 points, behind champion Ohio State, Michigan, and Wisconsin.
