Academic All-Big Ten Honors Announced for the 2016 Spring Season

In all, 96 Spartans were recognized for having a 3.0 or higher GPA.

Fall 2016 Rowed in the bow seat of the varsity eight at the prestigious Head of the Regatta, and helped the Spartans to a 15th-place finish in the Women’s Championship Eights …

2016 Big Ten Distinguished Scholar, earned with a 3.7 grade point average In the 2015-16 academic year ... Academic All-Big Ten Selection ... Rowed in the bow seat of the varsity eight in each of the squad's spring races ... Had a strong performance at the Oak Ridge Invitational (3/12-13) in the varsity eight, winning it's Saturday morning race by open water (6:28.48) over Oklahoma, Kansas and Alabama ... In the afternoon session at Oak Ridge finished third behind No. 4 Virginia (6:07.85), and Notre Dame (6:11.37), posting a time of 6:13.08. In the Sunday morning session, outpaced Big Ten foe Minnesota by a full length (6:37.90) -- the fourth-best time of any varsity eight on the lake on Sunday morning - and more than two lengths ahead of both Central Florida and West Virginia ... In the varsity eight, finished third behind No. 3 Virginia and No. 7 Michigan, (6:37.7), in the first session of the Big Ten/ACC Double Dual in Columbus (4/2) but was ahead of Clemson in the second session by more than two lengths of open water (6:45.9), and had contact with winner Michigan at the finish line ... Split action at the Big Ten Double Dual in Princeton, NJ (4/9) in the varsity eight, downing Rutgers by more than 26 seconds before falling to No. 3 Ohio State by six seats ... At the Clemson Invitational (4/16-17) raced in the varsity eight and had a fourth-place finish in the morning session, behind UCLA in second (6:48.2) and Louisville edging MSU by a second for third place (6:51.5 - 6:52.6). In the second session at Clemson, had a tall task against No. 3 Ohio State, No 4. Virginia, and No. 8 Texas, finishing fifth behind San Diego (6:32.50) ... Finished third to No. 3 Ohio State and No 16. Syracuse (4/24) in a three-boat varsity eight race in Columbus, clocked in a time of 6:25.2 ... Racing in Ann Arbor (4/30), took second behind the Wolverines in a time of 6:21.47, six seats ahead of (RV) Louisville in the varsity eight ... In the varsity eight race at the Big Ten Championships (5/15), rowed to a seventh-place finish (6:42.309), less than a second behind sixth-place Minnesota ...

2015 Big Ten Distinguished Scholar and Academic All-Big Ten Honoree ... Starting the season in the six seat of thesecond varsity eight, and came away with a mixed bag of results at the season-opening Oak Ridge Cardinal Invitational (3/14-15). MSU finished in contact with both second-place Oklahoma (6:10.545) and third-place UCF (6:10.791) in the opening race, clocked at 6:13.259 ... Was third behind eventual top-10 national finishers Virginia and Yale in the second race, but won the third race in a time of 6:10.139, open water ahead of Tennessee, Kansas, and Alabama ... Lost a pair of head-to-head battles with Louisville and Notre Dame in a double dual held at Ohio State (3/28) ... In the four seat of the second varsity eight , finished a length behind Big Ten foes Iowa (6:44.8-6:49.23) and Indiana (6:37.1-6:42.0) in a Big Ten Double Dual at Michigan (4/11) ... Finished third in the first set of second varsity eight races at the Clemson Invitational, a photo finish with Duke (6:54.3-6:54.9) for second place behind Louisville (4/18). Was fifth in the second 2V race, and fourth in the 2V finale ... Moved into the stroke seat of the second varsity eight for the final three racing weekends ... Finished behind eventual national champion Ohio State, Syracuse, and Michigan in a race in Columbus (4/25) ... Came up short in race with Big Ten rivals Minnesota and Wisconsin in Baraboo, Wisconsin (5/2), finishing third ... Finished third in the second semifinal heat at the Big Ten Championships (May 16), just five-tenths of a second behind second-place Indiana ... Was sixth in the Grand Final at Big Tens, clocked in a time of 7:19.715.

2014: Posted a victory over Ohio State by nearly a full length of open water in the novice eight (7:31.70 - 7:40.14) (5/3)... Finished first nearly a full length ahead of second-place Penn (7:54.9), and 18 seconds ahead of third-place Louisville as part of the novice eight at the Clemson Invitational (4/19)... Finished first in the novice eight on day two of the Clemson Invite (4/20), finishing six seats ahead of second-place Indiana and besting Syracuse, Oregon State, Washington State, Clemson, and Duke by open water... Novice eight won by a full length over Wisconsin and by open water over Minnesota at Michigan (4/12)... Defeated the Brown novice eight by open water (3/29)... Finished nearly 30 seconds ahead of Rutgers, who edged Boston by two seats in the novice eight race (3/28)... Defeated Duke and Kansas at the Oak Ridge Cardinal Invitational (3/15).
