Crew Takes Three of Five from North Carolina

EAST LANSING, Mich. - Michigan State crew won three of five races in a regatta with North Carolina this morning on the Grand River.

The Spartans' effort was highlighted by the varsity 8 boat, which maintained a lead for most of its 2,000-meter race, finishing four seconds ahead of North Carolina, 6:16.6-6:20.9.

"I think the varsity teams are on track," novice coach Matt Weise said. "The novices hopefully learned a lot today. We're on track to do well in San Diego next weekend."

Michigan State travels to California next weekend for the San Diego Crew Classic, April 4-5.
