Spartans Fall to Virginia in Rescheduled Races

East Lansing, Mich. - Due to inclement weather, MSU's races against No. 2 Virginia were moved to Friday evening. The Spartans had a mix of results, which was highlighted by a victory for the second varsity eight.
The varsity boat fell to the cavaliers by a length, clocking in at 7:19.4 to UVA's 7:14.8. The 2v posted MSU's most commanding victory of the day, with open water and a 5.5-second margin at the finish over UVA.
In the varsity four, MSU fell by just a shade over 20 seconds, and the second four fell to both of the UVA boats it lined up with. Virginia's third eight defeated MSU's novice eight in the third eight event, with MSU clocked in a time of 8:11.6 to Virginia's 7:55.2.
The morning race schedule has been cancelled on Lake Monticello, and MSU will resume racing tomorrow at 2 p.m. The Spartans will face off against Clemson and USC tomorrow, then against Texas on Sunday.
