Nov. 1, 2009
Complete Results in PDF Format South Bend, Ind. - Michigan State's rowing program had a clear, crisp day to get in some fall racing on Sunday in South Bend, Ind. The Spartans faced off in a series of races against home Notre Dame, Iowa, and Indiana. "I thought today for us was a little lackluster," admitted head coach Matt Weise. "I don't think that we executed things today that we've been working on in practice. The point of fall, though, is to work on some things and try some different combinations - so we'll just continue to work on these things, and hopefully have a better day when we race Indiana and Ohio State in two weeks." The raceday consisted of two flights of each varsity eights, novice eights, and of fours. MSU finished its "A" and "B" entries second and third, respectively, in the first flight of fours, then placed its "C" entry second in the second flight. For the novices, the Spartans' "A" entry was third in its flight, while the "B" entry was second to Notre Dame in the second flight. Both of Michigan State's varsity boats captured victories in their races. Both teams won by approx. five seconds over the second-place Iowa. The Spartans have one more date for fall racing, Nov. 15 against Ohio State and Indiana.
