East Lansing, Mich. - Michigan State prepares for its only home races of the season on Saturday, when it hosts Minnesota and Wisconsin for Big Ten dual races. The Spartans will host the races on the course on Lake Ovid in Sleepy Hollow State Park in Laingsburg.
Michigan will round out the field, as Saturday's races will be held in two sessions. The morning session will feature Michigan State against Wisconsin, while Michigan will line up with Minnesota. In the afternoon, MSU will take on the Gophers, while UM will tangle with the Badgers. The Spartans and Wolverines will not race head-to-head on Saturday, with the exception of in the novice four races. MSU and Michigan will face off in two weeks in Columbus with Ohio State.
Wisconsin is the defending Big Ten team champion, wrestling the title from the Spartans after MSU claimed the title in both 2008 and 2009. The Spartan varsity eight is the three-time defending Big Ten Champions.
Michigan State is coming off a sweep of all races for all boats at the Dale England Cup last weekend in Bloomington, claiming the Cup for the second time in three seasons.
