The Spartans have raced at Oak Ridge, Tenn. and on the home courses of Princeton and Rutgers in New Jersey so far this season. The Spartans own wins over future Big Ten member Rutgers in addition to Boston University, Kansas, and Duke, but fell to top-ten crews Virginia, Brown, and Princeton.
"Racing good crews is a good measuring stick. Obviously, you go into every race with a plan and with your sights on winning - but the first two weekends were a lot about learning how to race and making the necessary adjustments of being on the water instead of an erg," said head coach Matt Weise. "I believe that with the more time we have spent on the water, the more that our team has learned about racing as a unit. I really think that we have speed to gain, and we will get another good test of our progress this weekend with Minnesota and Wisconsin. "
Racing begins Saturday morning at 9 a.m. The morning session will have MSU racing Wisconsin, while Michigan races Minnesota in alternating races. The afternoon session will begin at 1 p.m., where the Spartans will line up with Minnesota and Michigan faces Wisconsin.
The Spartans will race in Clemson, SC and Charlottesville, Va. the next two weekends before returning to Ann Arbor to race Louisville and Ohio State in the final regular-season weekend.
