Rowers Ready for Big Ten Double Dual
MSU races No. 4 Buckeyes, Indiana in Ann Arbor
April 12, 2013
East Lansing, Mich. - Michigan State gets a look at two more Big Ten crews this weekend, when it competes against No. 4 Ohio State and Indiana at Michigan on Saturday.
The Spartans have already raced the Wolverines, two weeks ago at home on the Grande River. Due to pending inclement weather, the schedule will begin at 7:30 am (varsity eights) and conclude with the second novice eight race at 8:30 a.m. Instead of a pair of dual races against the Hoosiers and Buckeyes, the modified schedule will now be two four-boat races, each of the schools with an entry in each boat class.
For the Spartans, head coach Matt Weise hopes that nearly two weeks of practice since MSU's last races two weeks ago will translate into some success for his team.
"I am looking forward to this weekend's racing," said Weise. "We were disappointed, obviously, in the results from our home races against Michigan and Notre Dame when we opened the season two weeks ago. Without races last weekend, it gave us time to make adjustments, and I really feel like we learned quite a bit from those races and the last couple of weeks of practice. I'm looking forward to see the progression in the performance of our boats."
