Spartans Set to Host EMU in Scrimmage Saturday

April 27, 2018

EAST LANSING, Mich. – Michigan State will race Eastern Michigan this weekend in a series of non-countable scrimmage pieces on the Grand River in Lansing. The race will take place on Saturday morning at 9 a.m. beginning at Michigan State’s boathouse.

The boats will launch at 9:00 a.m. with the first race going at 9:40 a.m. The event will conclude around 11:15 a.m.

No official times will be kept at the scrimmage.

The Spartans are looking at this as an opportunity to prepare for the upcoming Big Ten Championships on May 12-13 in Indianapolis, Indiana.

“What we’re looking to do is congest the river and make it chaotic to really prepare us for the Championships,” said head coach Matt Weise. “We are trying to simulate race conditions, we’ll have six eight’s across the river to put us in the same situation we’ll be in at Big Ten’s.”

Saturday marks the lone home event for the Green and White this season.
