The consolation game will be played Sunday, Aug. 31 at 11 a.m., and the championship game will begin at 2 p.m. Michigan State will play either No. 12 Duke or No. 17 Louisville on Sunday.]]></description>

With just four seniors on the team, MSU compiled an overall record of 16-6 and returned to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2004. The Green and White outscored their opponents 89-29, were second in the nation with a 4.0 scoring average, and ranked second in the nation in goals per game with 4.05 behind North Carolina, the 2007 NCAA Champions. On Thursday the Spartans began to prepare for the 2008 season with the opening of camp.]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[Eight NCAA Tournament teams from a year ago dot the Michigan State 2008 field hockey schedule, as announced on Wednesday, June 18 by head coach Rolf Van de Kerkhof. <P>The Spartans, who were 16-6-0 (5-1 Big Ten) in 2007, will return 16 letterwinners to the 2008 squad which advanced to the semifinals of the Big Ten tournament and earned its fifth NCAA Tournament bid in seven seasons.
