Field Hockey
In her second season as MSU's volunteer assistant coach is Samantha Carr. She will work closely with assistant coach Alexandra Kyser and the MSU defense. The Yorktown Heights, N.Y., native joined MSU's staff after a four-year career (2000-03) at the University of New Hampshire. While at UNH, she helped lead the Wildcats to three appearances at the America East Conference Championships, including a second-place finish in 2000 and the semifinals in 2002 and 2003. In addition, the Wildcats advanced to the 2000 NCAA Tournament. During her four-year career, she played all three positions on the field, including forward and midfield (freshman and sophomore years) and back (junior and senior seniors). She closed her career with seven goals, including three game winners and four assists for 16 points. As a senior in 2003, she earned second-team all-region and first-team all-conference honors and was a member of the America East Academic Honor Roll. She started all 21 games as a senior, recording one goal and three points and was named to the All-Tournament Team at the America East Conference Championships. Carr earned her bachelor's degree in sociology from UNH in 2003. She is pursuing her master's degree in sports administration from MSU. |
