Michigan State falls to Delaware 5-1
Allie Ahern scores Big Ten leading sixth goal of the season

EAST LANSING, Mich. - Michigan State field hockey fell to Delaware 5-1 on Sunday afternoon, dropping to 2-5 on the year.
The Spartans took a 1-0 lead in the game's 15th minute on a goal from Allie Ahern. The goal was Ahern's team leading sixth goal of the season and third in as many games. With that goal, Ahern is now the leading goal scorer in the Big Ten and second in points with 12 on the season. Heather Howie picked up her first assist of the season on the play.
The Blue Hens answered with three unanswered goals before the half and took a 3-1 lead into the break. They added two more goals in the second half to earn the win and improve their record to 5-1.
Michigan State will play a pair of games in Louisville, Kentucky next weekend where the Spartans will take on 15th ranked Old Dominion and Northeastern. Friday's game against Northeastern will take place at 4 p.m. and Sunday's match up with Old Dominion at 11 a.m.
