Oct. 12, 1997 Ohio State Defeats Michigan State Field Hockey, 5-1EAST LANSING, Mich. -- Ohio State jumped out to an early lead and cruised to a 5-1 victory over the Michigan State field hockey squad in Columbus, Ohio. OSU carried a 3-0 lead into halftime, but MSU senior Jill Lusher responded early in the second half to pull the Spartans to a two-goal deficit. But the Buckeyesi Britta Eickhoff scored two late goals to secure Ohio Stateis 5-1 victory. With the victory, Ohio State jumped to 7-5, 3-2 in the Big Ten. Michigan State drops to 9-5, 2-3, and have dropped two straight for the first time this season. Lusheris goal extended her goal-scoring streak to four games, as she has scored nine goals during that span. The Spartans return to Big Ten action on Oct. 17 and 19, as they travel to Iowa and Northwestern, respectively.
