Oct. 24, 1997 Buckeyes Knock off Michigan StateEAST LANSING, Mich. -- Ohio State's Britta Eickhoff scored twice to help carry the Buckeyes to a 3-1 Big Ten victory over Michigan State on Friday. The loss drops the Spartans to 10-7 overall, 3-5 in conference play. Ohio State rises to 8-6, 4-3. Eickhoff unknotted a scoreless battle with two seconds remaining in the first half, scoring on a penalty corner. The Buckeyes scored two more early in the second half, seizing a 3-0 lead. MSU freshman Sofie Frankenhuis scored her third goal of the season, as she brought the game to 3-1 with 4:27 left. Despite a late rally, the Spartans could get no closer, as the Buckeyes defeated MSU for the second time this season.
