Sept. 6, 1997 Field Hockey Tops New HampshireEAST LANSING, Mich. -- Michigan State seniors Rayna Hiscox and Anne Berberich each chipped in two goals, as the Spartans cruised to a 4-1 victory against New Hampshire in the opening round of the UMASS/Phoenix Invitational Tournament, held in Amherst, Mass. MSU (3-1) outshot the Wildcats 19-9, as the Spartans seized a 3-0 lead early in the first half, including two goals by Berberich just 1:05 apart. Hiscoxís two scores gives her six goals in her last three games, as she beat the goalkeeper once in each of the two halves. Junior goalkeeper Beth George made seven saves to notch her third victory of the season. The Spartans will meet Massachusetts in Sundayís championship game, as the host school beat California, 8-1, in the other opening match. New Hampshire and California will play in the consolation game at 11 A.M. The MSU-UMass title game will follow at 1 P.M.
