East Lansing, Mich. - The National Field Hockey Coaches of America (NFHCA) has announced its National Academic Squad and National Academic Team Awards on Monday, March 5.

The National Academic Squad recognizes those student-athletes who have achieved a cumulative GPA of 3.30 or higher through the first semester of the 2011-12 academic year. Eleven team members received this recognition from the NFHCA: Abby Barker, Corey Block, Michelle Graham, Elizabeth Helffrich, Kristen Henn, Katherine Jamieson, Adelle Lever, Jessica Lindner, Angie Lucik, Rachel Roberts, and Holly Sherman. In addition, Block, Lucik, and Sherman received recognition for making this list all four years of their careers.

"Every year the program strives for success on the field and in the classroom," said head coach Helen Knull. "We are thrilled to have half the team recognized by the NFHCA as individuals. I would like to congratulate all of the student-athletes who have managed to attain and maintain this academic standard while competing for their institutions. I'd also like to give a special mention to Corey Block, Angie Lucik and,Holly Sherman who have been named to the squad for the fourth consecutive year."

 

 

The 2011 Gladiator by SGI / NFHCA Collegiate National Academic Team Award recognizes those institutions that achieve a minimum GPA of 3.0 during the first semester of the 2011-12 academic year. Michigan State was one of 60 institutions who qualified for this distinction.
