Field Hockey Recognized for Academic Success

EAST LANSING, Mich. - The Zag Field Hockey/National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division I National Academic Squad was announced on Wednesday, freaturing 15 student-athletes from the Spartan Squad. Michigan State was also honored with the Zag Field Hockey/NFHCA Division I National Academic Team Award, for achieving a team program GPA of 3.0 or higher.

The Zag Field Hockey/NFHCA Division I National Academic Squad includes all student-athletes with a cumulative grade-point average of 3.30 or greater through the first semester of the 2016-17 academic year.

Michigan State’s 15 selections include: Caitlin Abbott; Lauren Bonness; Makenzie Brown; Maggie Cole; Meghan Cole; Addie Donaldson; Megan Fenton; Bailey Higgins; Jillian Mahon; Kristin Matula; Katie Miller; Madison O’Neill; Amanda Robinson; Simone Vagnoni; Maddie Vann.



“I applaud the team on their commitment to academics and athletics and I am very proud of their performance in the classroom,” said head coach Helen Knull. “As a student-athlete, mastering time management is a skill the team spends a lot of time on and their hard work and commitment to being excellent is paying off.”
