EAST LANSING, Mich. -
The Michigan State field hockey program has been announced as a recipient of the 2013 Gladiator by SGI / NFHCA Division I National Academic Team Award. The award recognizes those institutions that have achieved a team GPA of 3.0 or higher during the first semester of the 2013-14 academic year.
"I am very proud of this team for their commitment and dedication to being a student-athlete," said head coach Helen Knull. "They have all excelled at being the best they can be in the classroom and on the field. The 2013 season was an exciting time for Michigan State field hockey, maintaining a team grade point average over 3.0 and winning the Big Ten Tournament. The team did an excellent job with time management and balancing the life of a student athlete."
On top of the team award, MSU had 13 student-athletes named to the 2013 Gladiator by SGI / NFHCA Division I National Academic Squad, recognizing them for their individual effort in the classroom.
