EAST LANSING, Mich. - Five Michigan State field hockey players were named to the All-Big Ten teams, as announced by the Conference office on Thursday. Junior forward Abby Barker was a First Team All-Big Ten selection and Becky Stiles, Katherine Jamieson and Molly Cassidy were all selected to the Second Team. Senior Katherine Jamieson was recognized as MSU's Sportsmanship Award Honoree.
"It is a great accomplishment for the team and these individuals," said head coach Helen Knull. "It is always nice to see players being recognized for their accomplishments for their play this season."
Abby Barker was selected to the First Team for the second consecutive season and was a Second Team All-Big Ten selection her freshman year. Barker led the team in both points (24) and goals (11) on top of scoring five game-winning goals. Barker tallied a hat trick against Indiana on Oct. 4 and scored six goals in as many games to close out the season.
Goalkeeper Molly Cassidy was a second team selection after recording the second most saves in the Big Ten (82) and playing a major role in four team shutouts this season for Michigan State.
Senior captain Kristen Henn and junior Becky Stiles are both Second Team All-Big Ten selections for the second season in a row. Henn started in every game for the Spartans, tallying four goals and two assists, while also playing a crucial role on the back line.
Katherine Jamieson was chosen as the team's representative for the Sportsmanship Award. Jamieson is coming off a week in which she was selected as the Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week for her seven- point effort (three goals and an assist) against No. 18 Iowa. Her six goals and 18 points on the season are third best on the team.
