EAST LANSING, Mich. - Michigan State junior forward Abby Barker (Columbus, Ohio) has been recognized as a 2013 Longstreth / NFHCA Division I Third-Team All-American.
"I think that Abby being named an All-American is a fitting way to cap off a fantastic season, not only for herself, but for the team," said head coach Helen Knull. "Abby was a leader on the forward line this season and has shown not only our conference, but Division I field hockey that she can close out games and is a fun player to watch."
Barker was the Spartans' leading scorer in the 2013 campaign, tallying 18 goals and 38 points, ranking third in the Big Ten in each of those categories. Barker recorded a hat trick on two separate occasions this season to go along with six game-winning goals. A First Team All-Big Ten selection, she led MSU to a Big Ten Tournament Championship and was awarded the tournament MVP for her five goals in three games.
Barker was named to the All-West Region First Team for the third time in her career earlier this season and is selected to the All-American Team for the second consecutive year.
