GETTING TO KNOW LIZ NAGEL

When did you first start playing golf?
My first swing was probably at 4, but I started playing competitively at 8.

What course did you learn to play on?
Centennial Acres. I've been going out there every summer with my dad since I was about 10.

Favorite course?
To play for fun, Crystal Downs. To play competitively, Egypt Valley and Crystal Mountain.

Favorite golf memory?
My first and only hole-in-one. It was in a tournament - the Michigan Girls Junior Championship at Egypt Valley Country Club.

Best thing about playing golf at MSU is...
Being around people every day that have the same goals and priorities I do is a really neat thing. I've met people from all around the world that have come here, and right off the bat we already have so much in common. I love meeting new people, and its great to know that we're all Spartans at heart and we all play for the green and white.

Favorite movie?
There's no way I can pick one, so I picked five: Dirty Dancing, Pretty Woman, How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, Sex and the City, and Julia and Julia.

Favorite TV show?
I love the Food Network. Especially Cupcake Wars and Ace of Cakes. Also, Project Runway and Say yes to The Dress.

Favorite golfer?
I think I'm one of the only Tiger Woods supporters left in the world. Also, Paula Creamer and Christina Kim (on a good day).

Favorite club and why?
Pitching Wedge. I can hit it from any distance inside 135 yards - greenside chipping, out of the sand, pitching, anything.

Favorite thing to do besides golf?
I love to spontaneously shop with my roomate and teammate, Shannon Warner, and to see my dog Dolly. Also, I love going up to our UP cottage and just relax on the beach.

What's on your iPod right now?
"Hollywood" by Michael Buble. LOVE him.

Favorite article of clothing?
I have a pretty over the top collection of ribbons. I like to spice it up a little bit on the golf course. :)

I first beat my dad in golf at the age of...
14 and I'll never forget how good it felt to finally beat him.

What's your major and why?
Hospitality Business. I love to be organized and work hard to do whatever needs to be done to meet people's needs. I want to be an event planner, or maybe work in golf operations.

In 10 years, I will be...
I will be 28 and making my mark on the LPGA tour.

Dream Vacation?
Probably somewhere warm - maybe Hawaii? I've heard it's beautiful and they have some gorgeous golf courses. BUT, I've always wanted to go to Italy, Paris, and London. Make it the ultimate four-location dream vacation and I'm in. :)

If I could live anywhere in the world, it would be?
At this point in my life I would stay in Michigan, but if it fits itself into my life at a later time, I'd love to live in London or the UK somewhere.

If I could play any course in the world, it would be?
Pebble Beach or St Andrews.
