Allison Fouch Sits Atop The Leader Board After Day One Of Lady Gator Invitational

GAINESVILLE, Fla. - Michigan State senior Allison Fouch (Grand Rapids, Mich.) sits atop the leader board after day one (March 7) of the Florida Lady Gator Invitational in Gainesville, Fla. Fouch shot an opening round 69, as she began the day with three straight birdies on holes one, two and three before back-to-back bogeys at holes four and five put her at 1-under. Overall, Michigan State is tied with Ohio State for second place with a 299 at the par 70, 5,927-yard University of Florida Golf Course. Duke leads the 15-team field with a 292, while Tennessee (301) fourth and Vanderbilt (306) fifth round out the top-five teams. Senior Sarah Martin (Grosse Ile, Mich.) is tied for 10th after shooting an opening round 75. Five other golfers are tied with Martin for 10th and sit just six strokes off leader Fouch. Senior Ann Marie Kersten (Oak Harbor, Ohio) shot a 77 and is tied for 25th. Meanwhile, sophomore Dayna Burleigh (Horsham, Pa.) and freshman Heather Rose (Chillicothe, Ohio) are in a nine-way tie for 35th place with a 78. MSU also has three golfers playing as individuals at the Lady Gator Invitational, including freshman Mandi McConnell (Grand Blanc, Mich.) who is tied for 57th after posting an 81. Sophomore Jennifer Johnson (Okemos, Mich.) recorded an 86 and is tied for 79th, while red-shirt freshman Rachel Meikle (Fort Wayne, Ind.) rounds out the Spartans with an 89.
Second-round action continues on Monday, March 8 with an 8 a.m. start, followed by the final 18 holes on Tuesday, March 9, at 8 a.m.
