GREENSBORO, N.C. - The No. 24 Michigan State women's golf team is in 11th place at the Bryan National Collegiate after shooting a 14-over 302 in the second round of the tournament on Saturday. The Spartans are currently 24-over at 600 (298-302) through two rounds.
The elite 18-team field features nine teams in the Golfweek Top 25 and 15 in the Top 50. No. 17 Virginia leads the tournament after 36 holes with a 2-under 574 (281-293).
Junior Christine Meier paced the Spartans for the second consecutive day and moved up three spots on the leaderboard after shooting a 1-over 73. She is tied for 12th at 2-over 146 (73-73). Meier recorded two birdies and also an eagle on the par-5 11th hole during her round.
Junior Allyssa Ferrell is tied for 27th place with a 5-over 149 (73-76). Ferrell did not produce a birdie in her second round, but did tally 14 pars against four bogeys.
For the second straight round, senior Caroline Powers registered a 75 and is tied for 37th at 150.
Sophomore Jenny Sritragul rounded out the team scoring on Saturday with a 78 and is tied for 61st with a 155 (77-78).
Junior Liz Nagel owns a two-round total of 169 (86-83).
