GREENSBORO, N.C. - The No. 24 Michigan State women's golf team placed 12th at the Bryan National Collegiate on Sunday afternoon after carding a three-round total of 902 (298-302-302). The elite 18-team field featured nine teams in the Golfweek Top 25 and 15 in the Top 50.
Senior Caroline Powers saved her best round for last with a 1-under 71 on Sunday; it marked Powers' fifth under-par round of the season. She leaped 20 spots on the individual leaderboard and tied for 17th place with a 5-over 221 (75-75-71). Powers recorded three birdies and 13 pars in the third round against just two bogeys.
Meier compiled a team-best four birdies in her round, but also had five bogeys, one double bogey and a triple bogey, along with seven pars, to close at 6-over 78.
Sophomore Jenny Sritragul carded a 78 for the second straight day and finished in a tie for 68th at 233 (77-78-78).
Junior Liz Nagel posted her best round of the tournament on Sunday with an 80 and closed at 249 (86-83-80).
No. 17 Virginia won the tournament with a 5-over 869 (281-293-295), while Emilie Burger of Georgia claimed medalist honors with a 5-under 211 (72-70-69).
Michigan State returns to action for the Alumni Match at Sea Island, Ga., on April 5-7.
