EAST LANSING, Mich. - the Michigan State women's golf team is in eighth place after 36 holes at the Indiana Invitational, carding a 327-318=645 team score. They trail sevent-place Minnesota by only six strokes, and are only nine strokes away from the top five. Host school Indiana leads the tournament with a 299-306=605 total, 17 strokes better than second-place Ohio State (311-311=622).
Freshman Kasey Gant is the top individual for MSU, striking a 78-77=155 to finish the day in 10th place. Junior Megan Shumaker finished Saturday's rounds with a 79-81=160, placing her in a tie for 26th, while teammates Ellen Bishop and April Holly finished tied for 45th after posting scores of 84-81=165 and 86-79=165, respectively. Junior Kellie Dennis rounded out the Spartan quintet, shooting 87-84=171 to finish tied for 62nd.
