Spartans Head to Final Round of Lady Buckeye Invitational in Third Place

COLUMBUS, Ohio - The 12th-ranked Michigan State women’s golf team is in third place after two rounds of play at the Lady Buckeye Invitational at the OSU Scarlet Course in Columbus, Ohio. MSU is 16-over-par 592 (291-301), one stroke ahead of fourth-place No. 15 Washington. Illinois leads the 14-team field at 3-over-par 579, followed by No. 16 Kent State in second place at 9-over-par 585.
Allyson Geer led the Spartans as she is 3-over-par 147 and tied for 10th place. Geer was one of just seven players to shoot under par in round one, recording a 1-under-par 71 with the help of birdying two of the final three holes. She fired a 4-over-par 76 in round two.
Burnham carded an even-par 72 in round one and started the front nine of round two 4-over-par, but bounced back to even on the back to end at 4-over-par 76.
Sharp fired an identical pair of 2-over-par 74s.
Paz Marfa Sans is 5-over-par 149 and tied for 20th place. She shot a 2-over-par 72 in round one, and then a 3-over-par 75 in the second round.
Pimnipa Panthong of Kent State and Grace Park of Illinois are tied for the lead at 3-under-par 141.
Sunday’s final round is slated to begin at 8:30 a.m.
