No. 20 Women's Golf In Second Place at Fossum Invitational

EAST LANSING, Mich. - No. 20 Michigan State is in second place after 36 holes of golf Saturday at the 26th annual Mary Fossum Invitational held at Forest Akers West. The Spartans trail No. 7 Purdue by three strokes heading into Sunday's final round.
Senior Laura Kueny currently sits on top of the leaderboard with a 3-under 141 (70-71). Kueny carded two birdies and an eagle in her first round, then collected three more birdies in her second round. The Whitehall, Mich., native leads Indiana's Kellye Belcher and Michigan's Ashley Bauer by one shot.
Sophomore Shannon Warner is also among the top 10 leaders after shooting a 1-over 145 (72-73). Warner, who is in eighth place, compiled seven birdies on the day.
After carding a 75 in the first round, junior Aimee Neff was two strokes better in the afternoon, shooting a 73 to finish at 148 (+4). She is currently tied for 17th place. Natalie Brehm was MSU's fourth finisher in the lineup, closing at 149 (73-76).
In her collegiate debut, freshman Caroline Powers shot a 151 (74-77) on the day and is tied for 25th.
Playing as an individual, sophomore Lindsey Solberg is tied for sixth place at an even-par 144. Solberg tied for the best round of the day with a 2-under 70 in the second round, improving from her first-round score of 74.
The third and final round of the Fossum Invitational is set for Sunday at Forest Akers West Golf Course, beginning at 8:45 a.m. Live results will be available at www.golfstat.com.
