No. 8 Spartan Women's Golf Remains in 11th Place at Tar Heel Invitational

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - The No. 8 Michigan State women's golf team shot a 10-over 298 in the second round of the Tar Heel Invitational Saturday and remained in 11th place with a total of 600 (302-298). The elite 18-team field features 12 teams ranked in the Golfweek Top 50, including six in the Top 25. Junior Caroline Powers led the Spartans in the second round with a 1-over 73 and is tied for 42nd on the individual leaderboard at 8-over 152 (79-73). Junior Liz Nagel is the top Spartan on the leaderboard, as she sits in a tie for 24th place with a 5-over 149. After carding a 75 on Friday, Nagel came back with a 74 in the second round. Sophomore Jenny Sritragul is tied for 31st with a 150 (74-76), while junior Christine Meier is tied for 36th at 151 (74-77). Junior Allyssa Ferrell improved in the second round by five shots with a 75 and is tied for 55th with a 155. No. 21 and host North Carolina leads the field with a 5-over 581 (288-293). The third and final round of the Tar Heel Invitational is set for Sunday. Live scoring will be available at www.golfstat.com.
