Oct. 26, 1997 Women's Golf Claims Fourth at Notre Dame InvitationalEAST LANSING, Mich. -- Michigan State finished fourth out of six teams at the Notre Dame Invitational held in Bonita Bay, Fla., Friday and Saturday. The Spartans shot a three-round 983, trailing Florida Southern (1st, 957) and Notre Dame and Rollins College (tie-2nd, 976). Michigan State placed two golfers in the top five individually, as junior Meggan Schumaker (4th, 235) and freshman Kasey Gant (5th, 238) continued to lead the Spartans. Schumaker and Gant were Michigan State's top two finishers in all five events of the fall season. The Spartans now take to the indoor golf room for winter training before their next appearance on the course, Feb. 20-21 at the Midwest Classic in Phoenix, Ariz. TEAM STANDINGS
