Sept. 21, 1997 Women's Golf Finishes 10th at Lady NorthernEAST LANSING, Mich. -- Michigan State women's golf finished in 10th place out of 16 teams at the Lady Northern this weekend at State College, Pa. Defending Big Ten champion Ohio State claimed first place by six strokes. The tournament features all 11 Big Ten programs as well as five other schools. Michigan State finished ninth among the Big Ten teams at the tournament. The Spartans were led by junior Meggan Schumaker (Columbia City, Ind.), who put together a three day total of 76-77-81=234 for a 28th-place individual finish. Freshman Kasey Gant (Fort Wayne, Ind.) claimed a tie for 38th with an 82-78-78=238 and junior Kellie Dennis (Jackson) bounced back from a difficult outing lasst weekend with a 79-77-84=240 (tie for 50th).
