EAST LANSING, Mich. - Two current members of the Michigan State women's golf team - rising sophomores Michelle Bowles and Aimee Neff - advanced to the round of 16 at the 32nd U.S. Women's Amateur Public Links Championship, held June 16-21 at the Erin Hills Golf Course in Erin, Wis.

Both Bowles and Neff qualified for the 64-player, match play bracket over the first two days. Bowles, earned the No. 26 seed, by shooting an eight-over par 154 (77-77) in the stroke play portion, while Neff was the No. 46 seed after a two-round total of 12-over par 158 (80-78).

Neff started off match play on a high note, knocking off No. 19 seed and three-time national collegiate player of the year Amanda Blumenherst of Duke, 2&1 on June 18. She continued with another win the next day, beating Jenny Lee, 2-up, but eventually fell to Lee Lopez, 3&2, in the round of 16.

Meanwhile, Bowles handled Aurora Kan in her first match, 6&5, and came back to upset No. 7 seed Mayule Tomimbang, 3&2, to advance to the round of 16. However, her run ended with a 4&3 loss to Kimberly Kim.
