July 3, 2013
The criteria for selection to the WGCA All-America Scholar Team are some of the most stringent in all of college athletics. The minimum cumulative GPA is 3.50.
Powers, an elementary education major, graduated in May with 3.87 GPA. She is the first four-time WGCA All-Scholar in program history. Powers was also named to the 2013 Capital One Division 1 Academic All-America At-Large Second Team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America, and is a three-time Academic All-Big Ten selection.
The most decorated women's golfer in Michigan State history, Powers completed her career as the school's all-time record holder in scoring average (74.26) and owns the top three single-season scoring averages in program history, including her record 73.53 she set as a sophomore. Named the 2013 Big Ten Women's Golfer of the Year, Powers posted six top-10 finishes as a senior and helped lead Michigan State to a ninth-place showing at the NCAA Championships, the best ever in school history.
Sritragul, a finance major, owns a perfect 4.0 GPA through her first two years on the team. A native of Bangkok, Thailand, Sritragul was also named to the WGCA All-Scholar Team last season. Sritragul competed in nine tournaments in 2012-13 with a scoring average of 77.36.
Under head coach Stacy Slobodnik-Stoll, Spartan women's golfers have been named WGCA Scholar All-Americans on 29 occasions.
