Liz Nagel Wins Stroke-Play Medalist Honors at 96th Michigan Women's Amateur

Final Stroke Play Results | Match Play Bracket EAST LANSING, Mich. - Michigan State rising junior Liz Nagel claimed stroke-play medalist honors at the 96th Michigan Women's Amateur Tuesday at Forest Akers West on the campus of Michigan State University. Nagel carded a 36-hole total of 145 (68-77) to win stroke-play honors for the second time in three years. She also took first during the stroke play portion in 2010 at St. Clair Country Club. The top-32 players in the 36 holes of stroke play now advance to match play. As the No. 1 seed, Nagel will face off against teammate Mariah Massa at 8 a.m. Wednesday. Several other Spartans advanced to match play, including Carley Saint-Onge (71-80) and defending champion Christine Meier (77-74), who each tallied a 151 to tie for sixth. Lindsey McPherson (75-78) and incoming freshman Gabby Yurik (75-78) both tied for 11th with a 153. Spartan head coach Stacy Slobodnik-Stoll also qualified by tying for ninth with a 152 (75-77).
