Sarah Burnham Named Big Ten Golfer of the Week
Sarah Burnham earned her fifth career Big Ten weekly honor.
EAST LANSING - Michigan State senior Sarah Burnham has been named the Big Ten Women's Golfer of the Week, it was announced by the conference office on Wednesday (Sept. 27) afternoon. Burnham shares the weekly honor with Laura Van Respaille of Maryland.
Burnham captured medalist honors at the 34th annual Mary Fossum Invitational last weekend in leading the Spartans to the tournament title. Burnham became the first Spartan to win the Fossum Invitational since 2013 as her 6-under-par 210 (70-67-73) was the lowest winning score at the tournament since 2010. She carded a total of 49 holes at or below par, including her bogey-free second-round 5-under-par 67.
Burnham helped the Spartans win the tournament by 46 strokes, posting a tournament record 5-under-par 859.
The weekly conference honor is the fifth of Burham's career and her first of the season.
MSU returns to action at the Windy City Intercollegiate, October 2-3.
