Women's Golf Adds Three to 2016-17 Roster

EAST LANSING, Mich. -- Michigan State women's golf head coach Stacy Slobodnik-Stoll announced Wednesday that three student-athletes will join the Spartan women's golf program for the 2016-17 season: Paz Marfa Sans (Barcelona, Spain/Colegio de Fomento High School), Priscilla Harding (South Lyon, Mich./South Lyon High School) and Catherine McEvoy (Greenwich, Conn./Greenwich High School).

Below is a look at each one of the student-athletes:

Paz Marfa Sans -- Barcelona, Spain -- Colegio de Fomento High School
Ranked one of the top women's golf amateurs (No. 288) in the world by World Amateur Golf Ranking . . . Posted a season-average score of 74.74 in 2015 . . . Tied for 14th at the 2015 World Junior Girls Championship at The Marshes Golf Club in Ottawa, Ontario with a 7-over 297 (72-75-71-79) and helped Spain to a sixth-place team finish . . . 2015: Took third during the stroke-play stage at the British Girls Amateur Championship . . . Placed fifth at the Grand Prix des Landes . . . Won the under-18 European Girls Team Championship . . . Finished runner-up in the Catalonia Amateur Championship (regional) . . . Placed ninth in the Spanish Amateur Championship (national) . . . Won the Catalonia Amateur's Grand Prix Ranking (Regional League) and the under-18 Catalonia Girls Championship . . . Placed fifth at the Madrid Championship (El Encin) . . . Two-time member of the amateur women's technical committee (2014-15) . . . member of the Girls Spanish Team . . . 2014: Second-ranked in Doral Publix Junior Classic . . . Placed third in the under-16 Spain Championship . . . Winner of the under-16 Catalonia Cadet Championship (regional), the Catalonia Doubles Amateur Catalonia Championship, and the under-16 Catalonia Cadet Grand Prix Ranking (regional league) . . . Finished second in the under-18 Catalonia Girls Championship (regional) . . . Placed 13th in the British Girls Amateurs Championship (stroke play stage) . . . 2013: Winner of the under-16 Catalonia Cadet Championship (regional) and the Catalonia Doubles Amateur Catalonia Championship . . . 2012: Finished runner-up in the under-14 Catalonia Championship (regional) and the under-16 Catalonia Cadet Championship (regional) . . . Placed fourth at the under-14 Spain Championship (national).

Priscilla Harding -- South Lyon, Mich. -- South Lyon High School
Named the 2015 Hometown Life Area Player of the Year . . . Three-time all-state selection (honorable mention in 2013; first team in 2014; second team in 2015) . . . Averaged an area-best 77.64 for 18 holes and 39.5 for nine holes . . . Placed sixth at the Michigan High School Athletic Association Division 2 state championships (80-81--161) and helped South Lyon to a third-place finish . . . Team captain also helped South Lyon win regionals for the fourth year in a row . . . Three-time Kensington Valley All-Conference and All-Division selection and three-time Kensington Lakes Activities Association scholar-athlete . . . Captured medalist honors at both the Tecumseh and Farmington Invitationals this season . . . One of five members of the All-Oakland Country Dream Team . . . Placed in the top 10 of all her tournaments as a senior . . . Set the South Lyon single-round record (70) . . . Qualified for match play at the Girls Junior GAM, making it to the quarterfinals . . . Qualified for match play at the Michigan Women's Amateur . . . Tied for 10th place at the 2014 MHSAA Division 2 state championships as a junior and helped South Lyon to a runner-up state finish . . . Was in the starting lineup for South Lyon as a sophomore at the 2013 MHSAA Division 2 state finals and helped South Lyon to a fourth-place showing . . . Earned honorable mention all-state honors in 2013 . . . Four-year letterwinner . . . Her older sister, Caroline, is currently a freshman on the Spartan women's golf team . . . Her father, Tom, was a three-year letterwinner on the Spartan men's golf team (1985-87).

Catherine McEvoy -- Greenwich, Conn. -- Greenwich High School
Won the 2015 Connecticut State Women's Amateur Championship . . . Three-time Connecticut High School Player of the Year (2013-15) . . . Two-time Connecticut High School individual champion (2014-15) . . . Also led Greenwich to a state championship in 2014 and a runner-up state finish in 2015 . . . Named the 2015 Hearst Connecticut Media Girls Golf MVP . . . Has led Greenwich to three consecutive FCIAC Championships . . . In the 14 regular-season matches in 2015 she competed in, was the medalist 12 times and co-medalist twice; her scoring average in her top-10 nine-hole matches was 36.4 and in tournament play, she averaged a score of 72.5 over 18 holes . . . Shot an even-par 74 at Orange Hills Country Club to win the 2015 individual state title by six strokes . . . Carded a 2-under 72 to win the 2014 state title by six shots at Orange Hills Country Club . . . Tied for second place at the 2013 state championship as Greenwich tied for second as a team . . . Two-time Fairfield County Interscholastic Athletic Association High School Individual Champion (2013, 2015) . . . Two-time Fairfield County Interscholastic Athletic Association High School Player of the Year (2013 & 2015) . . . Tied for fifth low amateur and tied for 17th overall at the 2015 Connecticut Women's Open . . . Tied for 22nd at the 2015 Big I Junior at Prairie Dunes Country Club in Hutchinson, Kansas . . . 2014 Connecticut State Women's Amateur runner-up . . . Was a quarterfinalist as the 2014 Women's Western Junior at Knollwood Country Club in Granger, Indiana . . . 2013 Connecticut State Junior Girls Champion . . . Was a 2013 USGA Girls Junior on-site alternate (Sycamore Hills Golf Club -- Fort Wayne, Ind.) . . . Fourth low amateur and 17th-place finish overall at the 2011 Women's Met Open.
