Women's Golf Signs Sarah Burnham, Jacqueline Setas to National Letters of Intent

EAST LANSING, Mich. - Michigan State women's golf head coach Stacy Slobodnik-Stoll announced Wednesday that Sarah Burnham (Maple Grove, Minn./Wayzata High School) and Jacqueline Setas (East Lansing, Mich./Lansing Catholic Central High School) have signed National Letters of Intent with MSU and will join the Spartan women's golf roster for the 2014-15 season.

Two-time Minnesota Junior Player of the Year (2012, 2013) . . . at age 16, was named the Minnesota Golf Association Women's Player of the Year, becoming the first junior to do so since 1997 . . . won the 2013 Minnesota Class AAA state title with a score of 6-under-par 140 (71-69) as a junior, which broke a big school record at the state tournament . . . claimed medalist honors at the 2013 Minnesota PGA Women's Open Championship (Aug. 7-8) with a two-day total of 5-under par 137; her second round of 67 set a course record The Wilds Golf Club . . . took home first-place honors at the 2013 Twin Cities' Junior Championship . . . placed second at both the 2013 Minnesota State Junior Girls' and Minnesota PGA Junior Championships . . . tied for third at the 2013 Minnesota Women's Amateur . . . tied for 16th while representing Minnesota at the 2013 USGA State Team Championship Sept. 17-19 in Kettering, Ohio; helped Minnesota tie for eighth place in the tournament . . . tied for sixth in the 2013 Minnesota Women's Four-Ball (with partner Lexi Bollant) . . . advanced to the semifinal round at the 2013 Minnesota Women's Public Golf Association Match Play Championship . . . qualified for the 2013 U.S. Girls' Junior Championship, advancing to match play . . . took fifth at the 2013 AJGA Coca-Cola Championship at Boyne Highlands . . . named the 2012-13 Future Collegians World Tour Player of the Year .

Sarah Burnham signed her National Letter of Intent with MSU on Wednesday.

. . won FCWT (Future Collegians World Tour) events in 2012-13 at TPC Las Vegas (Dec. 27-28), Wigwam Golf Resort (Jan. 26-27) and Whistling Straits Irish Course (May 4-5) . . . claimed medalist honors at the 2013 AJGA Preseason Junior at Vinoy Tournament (Feb. 16-18) in St. Petersburg, Fla. . . . took first place at the Future Champions Golf Texas Championship (March 9-10) in Allen, Texas . . . was named both the regular and junior player of the year in 2012 by the Minnesota Golf Association . . . won the 2012 Minnesota Women's Amateur in a three-hole playoff after shooting a 54-hole total of 220 (73-75-72) . . . also won the 2012 MWPGA State Public Links and the Twin Cities Women's Championship . . . was a semifinalist at the 2012 Minnesota Women's Golf Association State Match Play . . . took fourth place at the 2012 Minnesota Women's State Open . . . finished in fifth place at the Minnesota Women's Four-Ball . . . qualified for match play at the 2012 U.S. Women's Amateur Public Links . . . finished runner-up at the 2012 Minnesota State Junior Girls' Championship . . . will play her senior season this upcoming spring for Wayzata High School.

Two-time Michigan Interscholastic Golf Coaches Association Super Team selection (2012, 2013) . . . two-time Lansing State Journal Golfer of the Year (2012, 2013) . . . four-time Lansing State Journal Dream Team honoree . . . earned first-team Division 4 all-state honors in 2010 and 2011 . . . ranked the No. 1 player in the state of Michigan by Junior Golf Scoreboard . . . ranked the No. 37 player nationally in the Class of 2014 by Polo Rankings . . . helped lead Lansing Catholic Central to three team state titles during her career . . . won the 2013 Michigan Division 4 Lower Peninsula state championship Oct. 18-19 at Bedford Valley in Battle Creek, Mich., by nine shots with a two-round total of 150 (77-73) . . . helped lead Lansing Catholic Central to a fourth-place finish in the team standings . . . owns school records for lowest nine-hole score (30) and 18-hole score (68) . . . participated in the USGA 2013 State Team Championship Sept. 17-19 in Kettering, Ohio, representing the state of Michigan; helped Team Michigan tie for 15th place at the event . . . advanced to the quarterfinals in match play at the 2013 Michigan Women's Amateur at Walnut Hills Country Club . . . claimed first place at the 2013 AJGA Coca-Cola Championship at Boyne Highlands . . . also posted a top-five finish at the AJGA Stonehedge tournament . . . took runner-up honors at the 2012 Michigan Division 4 Lower Peninsula state championship (78-75--153) at Forest Akers West on the MSU campus and helped lead LCC to its third-straight state title . . . took medalist honors at the 2012 Women's Western Junior Championship . . . placed second in stroke play at the 2012 Michigan Women's Amateur and reached the semifinals in match play . . . tied for third place at the state finals her sophomore year at Forest Akers East as LCC won its second consecutive state crown . . . as a freshman, helped LCC win the state championship by tying for fourth place . . . member of the National Honor Society.
